A Ride With Bob - From Austin to Tulsa

Liz Smith, of the New York Post, writes, "The most entertaining night in Texas was seeing the great Grammy winner Ray Benson in his signature musical about the late country-western king Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys. Ray took all the Wills' classics, such as 'Rose of San Antone' and other hits, and reconstructed them through the life of Bob Wills." - New York Post, November 5th, 2005

Ray, pictured with Redd Volkaert, celebrated his 54th birthday in grand fashion at Austin's La Zona Rosa. The second annul Ray Benson Birthday Bash included guest performances by Ian Moore, Bob Schneider, Ruthie Foster and many others.

The party also featured the unveiling of the Valley Arts Ray Benson Signature model guitar made by Gibson Guitars. The event, sponsored by Advanced Micro Devices, Gibson Guitars, ASCAP, NARAS and Tito's Vodka, helps raise funds for the Austin Music Foundation, an organization that helps local bands and musicians.
